Ah the feeling of slipping my feet into a pair of new running shoes...pure bliss!! I can not wait to go shopping for a brand new pair of running shoes! I have gone through quite a few pairs of running shoes. So you may ask when is it time for a new pair? Or how many miles can I get out of a good pair of running shoes? Well, to answer those questions I went to Runnersworld.com. They provided the answers that I needed. When going to purchase a new pair of running shoes, try shopping at a specialty store. There are plenty of specialty running stores all over. What I recommend doing is go and get fitted with the proper running shoe. Talk to the experts in the running field find the running shoe that works for you and meets your specific needs. Once you have found it, time to shop. One place that I really like is Endless.com. Check out these ASICS Women's GEL-Nimbus 11 Running Shoe.I have gone through about 8 pairs of these running shoes and I keep going back for more! Another place that I recommend to purchase your running shoes is Amazon.com. Well, I am off to shop online! Remember proper running shoes are a key part of training for a marathon. Or for running in general. Treat your feet good! If your feet are happy you will be happy!!

16 Week Marathon Training Schedule
Wednesday, August 12, 2009I am now into a week of training. I came across a 16 week training program. I am hoping that I can stick to it. Not that I am going to quit. The thing about it is that I tend to do to much. For instance the program recommends starting your week off with 3 mile runs. Well, what do i do?? Run 6 miles. Then the next day is a scheduled rest day. Rest...ha ha, ya right! I can't rest. The thought of taking a day off from the gym is impossible. I know I should and need to. The thought of burn out is always lingering in my mind. Rest or workout?? Workout/running will win almost every time. UGH..why oh why do I do this to myself??? The fact of the matter is, if I am going to accomplish my goal of running a marathon then I have to be smart about it. I have to no matter what stick to a training schedule. As I mentioned earlier I found a great 16 week training program. It looks really good. I am excited/nervous to REALLY start it. Or should I say STICK to it. The other great book I found is "The essential Guide to Training for your first Marathon" This is a GREAT book!! Check it out for yourself : Click Here!

What did I get myself into?!?!?
Tuesday, August 11, 2009What did I get myself into?!?!? Well, I will tell you what it is. I have committed myself to training for a marathon. Yep a good old marathon! Now don't get me wrong, I love to workout and in fact I love to run. But, 26.2 miles? That is another story. I am torn. I want to do it. Then again, I am kind of nervous. Can I do this? I am going to be physically and mentally strong enough to cross that finish line? Ugh..the thought of doing this it terrifying. The thought of completely it seems almost impossible to imagine. But, when I actually visualize myself crossing the finish line. This overwhelming feeling of excitement rushes over my body! I have to keep that feeling alive! How do I keep that feeling alive?? The answer is VISUALIZATION!!!
“If you want to reach your goal, you must 'see the reaching' in your own mind before you actually arrive at your goal.”
- Zig Ziglar
So I have set my goal. I have committed myself and I am going to visualize myself completing this marathon. Everyday I will picture in my minds eye achieving my goal. I can do this!! I will continue to say positive affirmations daily and imagine the amazing feeling of crossing that finish line!
Join me,encourage and help me to achieve my goal. I will keep you posted on my progress!! Here go's nothing. Gotta "run"!! Pardon the pun!!
